A new CommIssioner of Police, Mr Ayodeji Olugbenga Abimbola, on Friday resumed in the Oyo State Police Command.

His resumption was announced via a press statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, on Friday evening.

Abimbola, who resumed as the 49th Commissioner of Police of the command, took over from Olufemi Haruna, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG). Haruna had assumed office on April 1, 2025, as the 48th Commissioner of Police in the state
.
According to the press statement, Abimbola, is a distinguished officer of the Nigeria Police Force, whose career has been marked by dedication, professionalism, and exemplary leadership.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has undergone several professional courses, including the citizenship and leadership course; capacity development course at the Police Staff College, Jos; community policing course in Benin City; junior command course at the Police Staff College, Jos; tactical leadership and command course (TLCC) at the Police College, Kaduna; and strategic leadership command course (SLCC) at the National Institute of Police Studies, Abuja.

He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has served with distinction across multiple states, including Lagos, Abia, Delta, Borno, Kano, Yobe, Oyo, Kogi, and Bauchi, in operational, investigative, and administrative capacities.
