
Tunji Disu, Acting IGP
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Lagos State University (LASU), Mr Babatunde OGALA (SAN), together with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, have celebrated the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu.
His appointment was announced by the Presidency on Tuesday, 24th February 2026.
Ogala and Olatunji-Bello, who identified with Disu over the appointment on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, staff, students, and alumni of the university, described him as a distinguished alumnus.
Disu holds a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in English Education, as well as Master’s degrees in Public Administration and in Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology from Lagos State University.
“The appointment, which is well deserved and meritorious, is a powerful testament to Mr DISU’s integrity, professional competence, and decades of disciplined and patriotic service to our nation,” the statement read in part.
The Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor affirmed that Disu represents the very best of LASU
They mentioned the attributes to include being resilient, intellectually grounded, and committed to transformational leadership.
“His elevation to the highest office in the Nigeria Police Force reinforces the university’s standing as a breeding ground for leaders, who shape institutions and drive national progress,” the statement stated further.
They expressed confidence that the Acting IGP would deploy his intellectual depth, vast operational experience, and strategic insight to strengthen reforms, deepen public trust, and enhance service delivery within the NPF.
Ogala and Olatunji-Bello continued: “As he assumes leadership at a pivotal moment for national security, the university community celebrates this milestone achievement and wishes him great wisdom, courage, and success in office. We are LASU, We are Great!”
