The deputy governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Engineer Muftau Open Salawu, has intensified his grassroots campaign across Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso, urging residents to support the party in its bid to ‘reclaim our common resources’.

He made the disclosure on Friday in a post on his Facebook page, which has attracted commendations from the pool of his large followers and supporters.

Open Salawu stated that he had been engaging political stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious groups and residents across the 10 local government areas of Oke-Ogun and five local government areas of Ogbomoso, which are two strategic zones of the five zones in the state.

He said his latest engagement began early in Iseyin today with a visit to the residence of a top grassroots politician, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha.

The meeting was followed by another  brief meeting with members of the Park Management System (PMS) also in Iseyin.

From Iseyin, Open Salawu proceeded to Ogbomoso, where he announced the reception of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who defected to the APM.

He also visited the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, describing the meeting with the traditional ruler as ‘electrifying’.

According to Open Salawu, the monarch urged voters to support the ‘Original’ and work towards reclaiming the common resources of the people.

The APM chieftain also disclosed that he engaged with religious groups during the tour. He added that the goodwill received during the visits had continued to strengthen the party’s grassroots campaign.

“APM is our party, and together we can build the Nigeria we deserve,” he stated.

Meanwhile, his activities have drawn commendations from supporters and political associates, who reacted to the Facebook post.

Hon. Tewogbade Diekola described Salawu’s commitment to reaching the grassroots and engaging people from different walks of life as worthy of recognition.

He said the warmth and goodwill shown during the engagements demonstrated the importance of connecting directly with communities. He prayed for wisdom and blessings for Open Salawu.

Another supporter, Tijani Afeez Adigun Omoleader, said Oyo State is ‘Open’ to more development and progress under the leadership of APM governorship candidate Abimbola Adekambi and Open Salawu.

Similarly, Peter Alao expressed optimism about the state’s development prospects, declaring also that Oyo State is ‘Open for greatness and development’.
